DR GLENN SINGLEMAN

Dr Glenn Singleman is an Australian medical practitioner, professional adventurer, wingsuit pilot, BASE jumper and award-winning documentary filmmaker. He has set three officially recognised world records. He is also one of the world’s most experienced expedition doctors.

A Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM), Glenn has extensive experience in emergency, rural, remote and expedition medicine. He is currently Deputy Director of the Wodonga Emergency Department and lectures for ACRRM. He is also Principal Doctor for EYOS Expeditions, Medical Director of Event Safety Services, and a part-time lecturer in the University of Tasmania’s Extreme Sport and Marine Medicine Program.

Glenn’s documentary BASEClimb chronicles his world-record-setting BASE jump from Pakistan’s Great Trango Tower. The film received 21 international awards.

In 2015, Glenn led the BASEClimb High Performance Wingsuit Team in the first wingsuit flight across the Grand Canyon from the North Rim to the South Rim. The team comprised Glenn, his wife Heather Swan, Roger Hugelshofer, Vicente Cajiga and Paul Tozer. After exiting a Cessna Grand Caravan piloted by Ray Ferrell at 28,000 feet, they flew 11.6 kilometres before landing on Hualapai Nation land.

In 2012, Glenn was a key member of the DEEPSEA CHALLENGE expedition that successfully took filmmaker and explorer James Cameron to Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench—the deepest known point on Earth—in an Australian-designed and built submersible. Glenn served on the expedition management team as Expedition Doctor and Life Support Supervisor. He was also Second Unit Director on James Cameron’s Deepsea Challenge 3D. This was his third project with Cameron, following Aliens of the Deep and Last Mysteries of the Titanic.

Glenn is an international motivational speaker and media commentator whose subjects include extreme sport, fear, human performance and risk management.

Qualifications and Medical Career

Glenn graduated in Medicine from the University of Sydney in 1983 and became a Fellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine in 2014. His postgraduate studies have included communications and underwater medicine.

Across more than four decades of medical practice, he has worked extensively in emergency, intensive care, rural, remote and expedition medicine. He is currently Deputy Director of the Wodonga Emergency Department and lectures for ACRRM and the University of Tasmania.
